Dr. Paul Quick

English Teacher

A North Carolina native, Dr. Quick was raised in Detroit, Michigan, where he attended St. Mary of Redford parochial school and Cranbrook. He returned south to attend Duke University for undergraduate and graduate degrees before teaching in the North Carolina Public Schools. He moved to Athens in 1994 to attend UGA where he earned a Masters with a thesis on Machiavelli and Shakespeare’s Henriad and a Ph.D. with a dissertation on the Southern novels of Cormac McCarthy. In that time he was honored with departmental, university, national and international teaching recognitions. After graduating, he continued at UGA teaching undergraduate literature courses and graduate pedagogy courses. One highlight of this time was receiving a Fulbright Scholarship in 2013 to teach at Pontificia Universidad Católica in Valparaíso, Chile. Quick started Donovan in 2017. In addition to teaching English classes, he teaches AP Seminar.
